EHL in a nutshell
History
At a time when grand luxury hotels were making their mark across European cities, demands for personalized, high-quality service led to a need for competent staff and dynamic managers. Mr. Tschumi was a pioneer in recognizing and acting on the need for highly qualified and skilled employees in the hospitality industry, which led to the founding of EHL in 1893.
A Not-for-Profit Company
Our organizational status as a foundation clearly sets us apart by signifying the reinvestment of all profits to further enhance the quality of our students' education.
Our structure allows us to deploy a variety of products and offerings in both Swiss and international markets. It enables students, faculty and administrative personnel to evolve in an environment that is in line with the hospitality industry's expectations.
Most importantly, being a not-for-profit company facilitates our work in developing academic programs and resources, thereby reinforcing our status as the world's leader in higher education in Hospitality Management.
EHL Academic Portfolio
EHL Group offers hospitality business degrees and hotel management courses for students of all ages and backgrounds, including pre-university courses, a bachelor’s degree, master’s and MBA degrees, as well as short courses & online programs for executives. We also offer professional courses through our sister school EHL Swiss School of Tourism & Hospitality, located at EHL Campus Passugg. More information

EHL Hospitality Business School is the world's first hotel school, founded in 1893 as Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.
For the last 5 years in a row, EHL was ranked World’s #1 University for Hospitality and Leisure Management by QS World University Rankings (in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023).
EHL was also ranked #5 in Switzerland for Business & Management Studies by QS World University Rankings (in 2021, 2022 and 2023).

EHL Foundation for Scholarships and Honorary Loans
In order to promote social diversity and talents, EHL is committed to providing a scholarship and financial aid program for deserving foreign students, and Swiss students who do not benefit from HES-SO grants.
To help these students and attract new skills, the “EHL Foundation for Scholarships and Honorary Loans” has been created.
