1893
Jacques Tschumi founded the Ecole hôtelière to train professional hotel staff. The school delivered the first classes in a room of the Hôtel d'Angleterre on the shores of Lake Leman in Lausanne.
1926
EHL's Alumni Association was created and nearly 500 former students became members of the association during its first year of existence, including the directors of many prestigious hotels in Switzerland and abroad.
1975
EHL moved to its current site in Le Chalet-à-Gobet and unveiled its new campus, located just a few kilometers north of Lausanne.
1976
EHL created an advisory and training branch, called Lausanne Hospitality Consulting (LHC), to provide the industry with expertise and business solutions based on time-tested learning methods and service excellence.
LHC would then become EHL Advisory Services in 2019
2009
EHL launched the first incubator for hospitality concepts and start-ups to create a dedicated resource for the development of new hospitality and F&B concepts.
2013
EHL Group acquired the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality AG (SSTH) in Passugg, Switzerland.
2017
EHL began transforming its campus in Lausanne using proposals from architectural schools worldwide and feedback from EHL students. Designed to house 3,000 students, the new campus facilities embody the highest standards of ecology, technology and pedagogy.
2018
EHL signed an agreement with Ville de Lausanne to develop its Innovation Village near the Lausanne campus with two core missions: to support entrepreneurship and to inspire and disrupt the food & hospitality industry.
2019
The EHL Group underwent a reorganization and rebranding exercise in order to unify its four entities (the three campuses and advisory services branch) under a solid organizational structure with a common purpose.
2020
EHL opened its first campus in the Asia-Pacific region, in Singapore. The EHL Campus (Singapore) was authorized to deliver EHL's Bachelor in International Hospitality Management in Singapore.
