We are delighted to announce our plan to launch a new addition to our educational offering from September 2025: a licensed EHL Bachelor in Tourism & Hospitality Management at the Hainan Lausanne Tourism University (tentative name) in Sanya, China, and in partnership with the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) – a partner with whom we have had a longstanding relationship – pending validations from the Ministry of Education of China and NECHE.

    This new Bachelor program is designed to meet the growing demand in the region for skilled tourism and hospitality professionals and presents a unique opportunity to extend EHL’s educational philosophy and high standards to an emerging market.

    To ensure that this program reflects EHL’s values and quality, we will directly oversee academic standards, curriculum design, and faculty involvement. A Dean and Head of Quality Assurance will be appointed to maintain the rigor and consistency synonymous with EHL, further strengthening our reputation for excellence.

    Swiss-quality Teaching

    The program will be academically managed by EHL Hospitality Business School, with oversight of all academic matters, including Faculty, curriculum and assessments.

    The program is designed for students who successfully completed their National College Entrance Examination (GaoKao) and aspire to become highly-qualified professionals with top tourism and hospitality management organizations in China.

    Pathways to EHL Bachelors & Masters

    Top-merit students who want international exposure and to broaden career prospects beyond tourism and hospitality and China will be able to apply to transfer into EHL's Bachelor program in Switzerland, or to one of EHL's Master programs after their studies.

    Students enrolled in the program will receive upon graduation both the standard Chinese Bachelor’s degree issued and accredited by the China MOE, and the Bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management issued by EHL Hospitality Business School.

    About Hainan

    Hainan is an island province at the southernmost tip of China. Sanya is a well-known tourist destination on the southern coast of the island.  There are over 100 hotels on the island, including a number of international luxury 5* hotel chains.

    In 2020, a large-scale plan was announced by the Chinese government to transform the entire island province into a free trade port, with the aim of turning it into the largest free-trade port in the world by 2035.

    Following discussions with CCCC, the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) and the authority of the island Province of Hainan, the city of Sanya, EHL Hospitality Business School was selected as a privileged candidate to offer a Bachelor program in Sanya.

    EHL has a long-standing relationship with CCCC, a prominent state-owned enterprise in China with a substantial role in infrastructure construction in China and abroad.

    According to ENR, CCCC is #63 in the 2023 Global Fortune 500 list, and is the world's 4th-largest engineering and construction company, and the 3rd-largest international contractor.

    CCCC will insure infrastructure maintenance and manage the operations locally for the EHL Bachelor in Tourism & Hospitality Management.
