Hainan is China’s southernmost island province and a key pillar of the country’s tourism and service industry development strategy.
In 2020, the Chinese government launched a large-scale initiative to transform the island into the world’s largest Free Trade Port by 2035. As part of this strategic plan, Sanya was selected to host the new university campus due to its tourism appeal, supportive policy environment, and international ambition.
The region is home to more than 100 international hotels and continues to attract investment in luxury, wellness, and MICE tourism.
EHL’s collaboration with China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) is instrumental to the successful delivery of the Sanya program. CCCC is a state-owned enterprise with a strong presence in infrastructure development across China and internationally.
Ranked #63 in the 2023 Global Fortune 500
4th-largest engineering and construction company globally
3rd-largest international contractor (ENR)
