Your best people already know what great performance looks like. But knowing how to do the job and knowing how to develop others are two different competencies.
EHL Trainer Development Programs develops operational experts, supervisors and experienced employees into effective trainers, giving them the pedagogical and facilitation skills to onboard, coach, give feedback and transfer their know-how effectively.
The result is practical training that reflects your operations, your standards and your culture. You help your team members become effective faster while building training capability that stays within your organization.
DEVELOP YOUR PEOPLE
Create a culture of learning by developing your staff’s facilitation, coaching, and knowledge-sharing skills.
BUILD YOUR TRAINING
Turn operational expertise, standards and procedures into structured, competency-based training.
SCALE WITH EHL
Develop selected trainers to deliver EHL content within your organization.
New, seasonal or transitioning employees need to understand not only what to do, but how to do it to your standards. Yet the staff responsible for onboarding them are often operational experts who have never been taught how to train, coach or give effective feedback.
Develop the people who develop your people — and create more effective, consistent onboarding.
Your experienced employees hold years of practical knowledge: techniques, standards, judgment and ways of working that are rarely fully captured in manuals or procedures. When people move roles or leave the organization, that expertise can leave with them.
Give your experts the tools to turn their know-how into structured, practical learning that can be transferred to others.
As your organization grows across teams, functions or locations, relying on a small number of external trainers becomes difficult to scale. Different people train differently, standards can become diluted and training quality becomes harder to maintain.
Build internal training capability and a common approach to developing people across your organization.
Giving instructions is difficult. Transferring knowledge is even harder.
Equip your employees with a facilitation mindset to turn everyday interactions into meaningful learning opportunities.
The Practical Arts Facilitation Mindset gives professionals the foundations to support learning more effectively in their everyday working environment. Participants develop a learner-centered approach, discover practical techniques for giving clear instructions and constructive feedback, and learn how to adapt their facilitation to different people and situations.
The goal is simple: help others learn through practice, build confidence and progressively develop their capabilities.
Open to all staff across disciplines with no prerequisites, this training is delivered in groups of 8 to 15 participants and awards an EHL Certificate of Completion.
Discover the foundations of the Facilitation Mindset
Participants first explore the principles behind effective practical learning through a self-paced digital experience of approximately 5 hours.
They discover the role of the facilitator and the foundations for creating an environment where people can try, make mistakes, reflect and progress.
Focus:
Facilitation mindset • How people learn • Learner-centered development • Foundations of practical learning
Put the mindset into practice
During a ½-day facilitated session, participants apply the concepts to situations they encounter in their own working environment.
Through practical exercises and discussion, they learn how to give clear operational instructions, adapt their approach to different learners, apply facilitation best practices and provide constructive feedback.
Focus:
SMART instructions • Adapting to learners • Facilitation techniques • Constructive feedback • Practical application
Turn operational expertise into effective training
Your experts carry years of operational know-how. But expertise that is passed on informally, by showing, explaining or simply asking others to observe, can be difficult to transfer consistently and at scale.
The Trainer in Practical Arts program gives professionals the methodology and practical tools to transform what they know into structured, competency-based training. Participants learn how to understand their learners, translate operational expertise into clear learning objectives, design practical training experiences, facilitate learning, assess capabilities and provide constructive feedback.
Throughout the journey, participants apply the methodology to their own professional context, progressively developing and delivering a real training session that responds to an operational need.
The result: expertise no longer lives only in one person's head. It becomes a capability that can be structured, transferred and developed across the organization.

Bring EHL learning closer to your people
You've built strong internal trainers. Now you want to go one step further: bring selected EHL Practical Arts expertise directly into your organization, delivered by people who already understand your teams, your operations and your culture.
Expert Trainer in Practical Arts is the next step for selected, experienced trainers, to deliver approved EHL Practical Arts courses while applying EHL's methodology, quality and standards.
It means bringing EHL learning closer to where your people work — and building the internal capability to deliver it at greater scale.
The next step: from training your way, to delivering the EHL way.
Expert Trainer in Practical Arts is currently under development.
For more than 130 years, EHL has combined hospitality expertise with learning through practice. That experience shapes how we develop trainers today: not around theory alone, but around how people actually build capabilities, that is, through demonstration, application, feedback and reflection.
Your trainers learn from an institution that doesn't just teach hospitality. It has built its reputation on teaching people how to perform it.
Great training on paper means little if it cannot be applied during a shift, in a kitchen, on a hotel floor or in a fast-moving service environment. EHL's approach is grounded in real operational situations, giving trainers practical methods they can use with their own people, standards and constraints.
Participants don't just learn about training. They practice how to make learning happen in the workplace.
Not everyone in your organization needs the same level of training capability. Some people need to become better at onboarding, coaching and giving feedback. Others need to turn their expertise into structured training and deliver it effectively. And selected experienced trainers may eventually go further.
The EHL Trainer Development Programs allows you to build the right capability at the right level and develop it progressively over time.
The knowledge your organization needs is often already there: in the people who know your operation best. EHL helps you give those people the methodology and tools to turn their expertise into learning that others can understand, practice and apply.
Instead of knowledge remaining with a handful of experienced employees, you build the internal capability to transfer it more consistently across your organization.
Whether you have a fully formed project, an operation that needs fixing, or simply a question you haven't found the answer to yet.
The programs are designed for staff across all departments and functions who are responsible for onboarding, coaching, training or developing others. The appropriate level depends on the capability they need to build: from facilitating learning in the workplace, to designing and delivering structured training, to eventually delivering approved EHL Practical Arts content.
No previous training or pedagogical qualification is required for Practical Arts Facilitation Mindset.
For Trainer in Practical Arts, participants should have a strong technical or operational background and we recommend at least two years of professional experience within their field or organization. Previous experience as a trainer is not required.
For Expert Trainer in Practical Arts, successful completion of Trainer in Practical Arts will be a prerequisite.
No. The methodology draws on EHL's long-standing expertise in practical learning and hospitality education, but the principles can be applied wherever operational or technical expertise needs to be transferred through practice.
The program is particularly relevant to hospitality, service, luxury and other skills-based operational environments. Participants work on their own professional context, standards and expertise throughout the program.
Trainer Development Programs combine digital learning, online interactions and face-to-face sessions.
Face-to-face components can be delivered at EHL or at the client's organization, depending on the selected program, delivery model and organizational needs.
Trainer in Practical Arts is delivered over 12 weeks and includes approximately 35 hours of self-paced learning. Two delivery models are available, offering different balances of face-to-face and online interaction:
Immersive Pathway: 7 days of face-to-face training and 2 online touchpoints.
Flexible Pathway: 3 days of face-to-face training and 4 online touchpoints, with an optional individual coaching session.
Both models follow the same learning pathway and are designed to achieve the same learning outcomes.
