President of the International Advisory Board

Emanuel Berger, having served for almost two decades as Board Member of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), accepted the task of relaunching EHL’s International Advisory Board in 2012.

A passionate entrepreneur and hotelier throughout his career, Emanuel Berger managed the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa in Interlaken for 36 years and created the Victoria-Jungfrau Collection, a group of leading Swiss hotels.

Named Waldorf-Astoria Distinguished Alumni, Mr Berger has extensive experience in the hotel industry, gained in Switzerland, Europe, the United States and Africa. Among his responsibilities, he served as Board Member and Chairman of the Swiss Deluxe Hotel group.

The University HSG of St. Gallen allocated him a Freedom Award of the Schmidheiny-Foundation in 1997. Among other honours, he was the recipient of the 2002 Lifetime Milestone Award in Switzerland, and was named Independent Hotelier of the World by HOTELS Magazine in 2003 as well as European Hotelier by the European Hotel Association in 2005.

Emanuel Berger serves on the Board of Directors of numerous luxury hotel companies and is honorary member of the Swiss hotel association hotelleriesuisse, as well as Board member of the Global Wellness Institute.

Mr Berger has a Swiss commercial diploma and is a graduate of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, as well as Hotel Management HF NDS. In 1970 he was the recipient of a scholarship for Cornell University.
