Internal transformation is the foundation of external impact. By building a human-centric, resilient and responsible organizational model, we position ourself as a catalyst for change in the hospitality and service industries.

Through thought leadership, research, industry partnerships and the sharing of best practices, we co-create solutions and demonstrate what responsible hospitality looks like in practice. This approach aims to inspire peers to embed sustainability into their strategies, operations and education, contributing to broader systemic change.

Applied Research

Research plays a key role in advancing our sustainability ambitions and extending our impact beyond campus. Through internal research activities, we aim to generate and share knowledge and best practices that support the transition towards more responsible, resilient, and human-centric hospitality models.

Industry Collaboration

Industry collaborations and partnerships are key to making an impact beyond our campuses. By teaming up with specialist institutions and experts both within hospitality and in related industries such as agriculture, we can pool our knowledge and resources and work together to further our expertise and make a bigger impact.

Insights and knowledge exchange

As a leader in the field, we seeks to be a fertile hub for the exchange of knowledge and best practices. Through on-campus events, expert-led reports, and insightful articles we encourage other institutions and policymakers to discuss new ideas and share their diverse perspectives, sparking innovative solutions to industry-wide problems and helping to accelerate positive change across the ecosystem.

We regularly publish research and industry reports, such as the EHL Insights Report: Hospitality Outlook or the EHL Insights Report: Food and Well-being.

Key events hosted by EHL include the Human X Summit in 2026, the Open Innovation Summit in 2025. We also contribute to and participate in key national innovation platforms, including the Swiss Impact Forum and the Swiss Impact & Prosperity Initiative.

Our Social and Environmental Report

sustainability-week-teaching

In 2020, EHL released its first social and environmental report, confirming the start of its journey towards sustainability by publishing a set of commitments approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.  The report is now released yearly, covering the actions over the course of the previous year.

There is still a lot to be done, but we are devoted to take on the challenges of today’s society and develop our metrics for more precise reporting from year to year, to be able to set precise objectives for positive change over the short, medium and long term.
