Our Sustainability Approach

    At EHL, sustainability is not a standalone initiative—it is embedded across everything we do. From our educational programs and campus operations to our engagement with the global hospitality industry, sustainability shapes how we teach, operate and collaborate.

    The year 2025 marked an important milestone: the completion of a first cycle of commitments and the beginning of a new phase of acceleration. Building on this foundation, EHL is advancing a renewed strategy designed to strengthen coherence, scale impact, and deliver measurable outcomes.

    We see sustainability as a shared responsibility. By empowering our students, faculty, staff, partners and alumni, we aim to foster a collective mindset that extends beyond our campuses and into the wider hospitality ecosystem.

    Sustainability at EHL is also a driver of learning and thought leadership. Through our programs, research and industry collaborations, we contribute to shaping new perspectives and advancing best practices across the sector.

    Our ambition is clear: to lead by example and support the transformation of hospitality towards a more human-centric and sustainable model—one that creates long-term value for people, communities and the environment.

    Our Environmental & Social Report

    Since 2019, EHL has been committed to transparently measuring and tracking its sustainability progress. Our annual reports reflect our accountability and commitment to continuous improvement and responsible practices.

    There is still a lot to be done, but we are dedicated to taking on the challenges of today and  ensure that from year to year we implement more and more impactful initiatives, track progress and set objectives for positive change in the near term and long term.

    Our new strategy - From Progress to Acceleration

    EHL’s renewed sustainability strategy builds on years of progress across our campuses, governance structures, academic programs, and partnerships. In 2025, a refreshed materiality assessment helped sharpen our priorities, ensuring alignment with the most relevant environmental, social, and industry challenges.

    This next phase is further accelerated by our B Corp certification, reinforcing our commitment to measurable impact and accountability. Moving beyond implementation, the strategy focuses on acceleration and scaling, centered on three interconnected axes: what we teach, how we operate, and how we engage with the industry, working in sync to drive meaningful and lasting change.

    Lead by Example

    Our campuses serve as living demonstrations of sustainable and human-centric hospitality. By aligning our operations with what we teach, we ensure credibility and consistency in our approach.

    We integrate ESG best practices across all our campus operations, from energy, food & beverage, mobility, and digital practices to responsible procurement, supplier engagement, and resource efficiency.

    Strong governance frameworks, including an updated Code of Conduct and clear accountability mechanisms, guide our decisions. At the same time, we foster a culture where well-being, inclusion, and diversity are central, creating safe, fair, and supportive environments for all.

    Transform Through Education

    Education is EHL’s most powerful lever to drive long-term sustainable impact. Sustainability is embedded throughout the entire student journey, from foundational courses to applied learning and practical workshops, ensuring that key competencies are developed in both theory and practice.

    Dedicated learning pathways, including specialized electives, student business projects, and real-world experiences, allow students to deepen their engagement. By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through hands-on projects and problem-solving, and by continuously assessing and strengthening our content, we equip future leaders to shape a more sustainable hospitality industry.

    Inspire and Mobilize the Industry

    EHL acts as a catalyst to drive collective transformation across hospitality and related sectors. Through applied research and thought leadership, we generate and share insights that address real-world challenges.

    By collaborating with industry partners, startups, innovators, and academic and institutional stakeholders, we foster meaningful exchange and co-creation. Our platforms, ranging from reports and insights to events, summits, and partnerships, enable dialogue and action. Together, we promote scalable, practical, and human-centric solutions that support the industry’s transition towards a more sustainable future.
