At EHL, we place a strong emphasis on the well-being of our EHL community, ensuring that health, safety, and inclusivity are at the forefront of everything we do. In collaboration with other departments, we have, implemented diversity awareness initiatives, and promoted the use of health and wellness resources to encourage a healthy lifestyle, all while monitoring staff and student feedback through independent assessments.
We continue to work towards creating a thriving environment where individuals feel supported and empowered to succeed, both personally and professionally, while contributing to a more sustainable workplace.
Caring for our Community is at the heart of our mission. We exceed Swiss legal employment standards, providing extensive benefits such as maternity, co-parent, and caregiving leave to support our employees at every stage of life. We proudly obtained the Equal Pay Label, ensuring that our compensation practices reflect our dedication to equity and fairness.
EHL is committed to employee career development. In 2024, new and improved processes were implemented to streamline and monitor staff training and growth opportunities, ensuring continuous skill development, increased engagement, and career progression. Beyond meeting legal requirements, we are deeply committed to investing in the well-being of our community.
Through ongoing initiatives, we strive to create a supportive, inclusive, and fulfilling environment for all. This commitment ensures that both staff and students can thrive and supports a culture where personal and professional growth are nurtured.
The EHL Women in Leadership (WIL) initiative aims to promote and support female leadership by offering activities that foster equity and a balanced, people-centered environment.
For example, WIL organizes annual conferences that bring together young female students and experienced professionals from the hospitality industry, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and mutual learning.
At EHL, health, well-being, and safety are top priorities. We promote a healthy lifestyle for all members of our community through inclusive facilities and supportive services.
Our on-campus restaurants provide nutritious meals catering to a wide range of dietary preferences. To encourage physical activity and well-being, students and staff have access to extensive sports facilities, including, on EHL Campus Lausanne, a gym, indoor swimming pool, tennis, padel, and basketball courts, as well as fitness and yoga classes.
Additionally, on-campus physiotherapy and nursing services offer professional care to support overall health. To further support mental health, students can also access guidance and resources through our dedicated Mental Wellness Coordinator, who plays a role in promoting psychological well-being across campus.
Student initiatives play a vital role in promoting a supportive and inclusive campus environment. Our Student Pride Taskforce fosters open discussions and raises awareness on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, empowering students to engage in meaningful dialogue.
Additionally, stress-relief activities offer vital support to students, particularly during high-pressure periods such as exams. These initiatives promote overall well-being and contribute to a balanced, healthy learning environment, enabling students to thrive both academically and personally.
In 2020, EHL released its first social and environmental report, confirming the start of its journey towards sustainability by publishing a set of commitments approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. The report is now released yearly, covering the actions over the course of the previous year.
There is still a lot to be done, but we are devoted to take on the challenges of today’s society and develop our metrics for more precise reporting from year to year, to be able to set precise objectives for positive change over the short, medium and long term.
